A long overdue update!

Obviously, I haven't posted in quite some time, and I'm way overdue for an update. I know, I know, you've heard this before. But I really think I'm finally getting the hang of this mommy thing. So I should have more time to blog, should being the operative word here! But you never know with Koji, he is no longer a baby (sniff, sniff!) he is now a toddler! So I spend a lot of time chasing him around and trying to keep him from standing on top of his toys (some with wheels), lying on top of the cat, standing on the back of the couch, chewing on the windowsill ... the list goes on! I can feel the gray hairs forming, seriously. It's crazy how quickly the time passes, It's hard to believe he will be 2 years old in just four months. How did that happen??

My little boy is so energetic, he loves to run and climb, and to be outdoors. He gets so excited when he realizes we are about to leave the house, he runs to go get his shoes, his sweater, his hat. It is so cute to watch! He really enjoys the park, and we try to go just about every day - luckily we have a wide variety of parks to choose from. I just found another one yesterday, bringing the total to no less than six parks that we can walk to from our home. Like he cares which park it is, he enjoys them all the same. He loves to climb anything that he is able, and is turning into a little monkey. Sometimes he will go down the slide, but not as much as he used to. He begs to get on the swing, and will observe everything from his perch - trees, leaves, flowers, the airplane flying over head, birds flitting here and there. He will often find one of the many drains in the park and just squat over them, pushing leaves littering the ground through the gaps. The smallest things entertain him, and it really makes you look at things you normally wouldn't notice.

Buses, and fire trucks, or anything with sirens for that matter, and the big trucks are an obsession for Koji. He runs to get a better view yelling "shussssss!" when he sees one, or if he is in the stroller he will crane his neck and watch until it disappears from view. Really, he likes anything with wheels, but the big vehicles he especially enjoys. He can spend hours just playing with his cars collection at home, or pushing the shopping cart around that used to belong to his big sister, or the stroller that we forgot to set the brake on.

Koji sleeps much better these days, so I can't really call myself 'sleepless' anymore, and we live a little further from LA now, but I love the title so I'm keeping it! He usually wakes once a night, and most nights will settle right back down, but sometimes I have to rock him back to sleep. And he's down to only one nap, but he gets stubborn about them and some days he will go without a nap, much to my frustration. Then I'm dealing with one cranky toddler in the early evening. He is still my good eater, and loves fruit, especially. I discovered that he loves salad, when at my cousin Elizabeth's wedding this past November, he devoured most of my salad by himself! He gets so excited about certain foods that we have to be careful about saying the word, unless we're prepared to give it to him - yogurt, milk, cheese, snacks, juice. We even have to be careful about saying 'hungry', or 'eat', or even talking about shoes or outside - he's one smart little boy!

Another major development since I've last posted is that I am now an Independent Consultant for Scentsy. I first learned about Scentsy from my cousin Tresa (she goes by Reese now, but it's so hard for me to remember to call her that!), when she sent me a link to her website and asked me to pick out a Scentsy Buddy for Koji. Tresa and her mom (my Aunt Caren) wanted to buy something for him. So I picked out the Lion (Roarbert the Lion), and it comes with a Scent Pak, and I chose the French Lavender one, since lavender is supposed to be very calming for little ones. It arrived very quickly and Koji loved it! He roars at it whenever I get it out for him - it's usually in his crib when he's not playing with it. Anyway, while I was on the website, I saw all the other cool stuff Scentsy has to offer and I started asking Tresa questions about doing what she does. She told me that they are 'wickless' candles, and it's a simple system of a warmer and light bulb, with the light bulb melting the wax at a very low temperature. This means if Koji happens to get into it, he won't burn himself! Really?? That's just awesome! And I won't have to worry about burning down the house because there's no flame, it's only a 25 watt bulb for the largest warmers, so basically it's like plugging in a lamp, or any other small appliance. So after perusing the website and making a mental list of all the things I wanted, I was hooked. So I did some research and read the Scentsy story, and was convinced I wanted to be a consultant too, so I joined. Being able to work at home and sell something that I absolutely love and believe in as well? Well that's just a no-brainer to me. I'm really excited about the products and where this opportunity will take us, I just want to tell everyone about it!

Well that about wraps up this update, thanks for sticking around if you're still following my blog after all this time!
