Anniversary!

Image
Four years ago today, Vic and I went on our very first date. And what an eventful date it was! First I got lost trying to find his apartment, since it was in a part of town I had never been to before. And he might have left out a freeway in the directions he gave me. But finally, after I almost ended up at Magic Mountain, after a phone call to a friend for help, he got me on my way to his street in Silverlake. He showed me where to park and we walked to the Metro station at Santa Monica and Vermont, and I took my first subway ride with him to Universal Citywalk. I had never been to Citywalk before; the last time I had been to Universal Studios was at age 16 on a family vacation, and Citywalk didn't exist. We ate at Panda Express and walked around, browsing the shops. As much as you can browse with wall to wall people that is. But it was a really fun time, and I'm pretty sure we both knew we were going to be together, even so early on. We waited by the fountain for the tr

A long overdue update!

Obviously, I haven't posted in quite some time, and I'm way overdue for an update. I know, I know, you've heard this before. But I really think I'm finally getting the hang of this mommy thing. So I should have more time to blog, should being the operative word here! But you never know with Koji, he is no longer a baby (sniff, sniff!) he is now a toddler! So I spend a lot of time chasing him around and trying to keep him from standing on top of his toys (some with wheels), lying on top of the cat, standing on the back of the couch, chewing on the windowsill ... the list goes on! I can feel the gray hairs forming, seriously. It's crazy how quickly the time passes, It's hard to believe he will be 2 years old in just four months. How did that happen?? My little boy is so energetic, he loves to run and climb, and to be outdoors. He gets so excited when he realizes we are about to leave the house, he runs to go get his shoes, his sweater, his hat. It is so cute

So recently I was looking all over for some blocks for Koji, just some basic blocks with maybe some letters on them. I couldn't find wooden blocks anywhere! It's like all the stores are being over-run with electronic toys and it's near impossible to find simple toys any more. Then at Target I happened to come across these: They are a set of ten BPA free blocks numbered 1-10, and each one has an animal and different patterns sculpted onto them. They are squeezable and stackable! Koji LOVES them, and he loves to chew on them especially. The product description says you can use them as bath toys, but since they have holes in them, I'm not going to put them in Koji's bath ... that's a germ fest waiting to happen! Also, the packaging is earth friendly, and the company donates a percentage of sales to the Free the Children charity. I still would like to find a set of wooden blocks some day, but this is definitely a nice alternative to traditional wood! Here

Thar she blows!!

How does it happen that my son, Koji, must pee at the most inconvenient times? For example, right after I have stripped off his pants, removed his diaper, wiped him down, let him air dry, applied diaper cream ... and just when I am about to put the fresh diaper on, suddenly the gusher appears. Before I can cover the deluge with any available absorbant material he has it all over himself, his onesie (probably the 3rd one I've dressed him in that day), the changing pad, and it is pooling under his backside! Aaahhhh! Is it the exposure to air that gives him the urge to go right then? Change in temperature? Or is he thinking, hey, mom has nothing better to do than clean me all over again! Or maybe he just enjoys the look on my face when it happens, so he does whatever he can to recreate the expression. It's a mystery to me. And on another note, poop always seems to happen JUST when I have put a fresh diaper on, even if I have just cleaned a poopy bottom! I should buy stock in di
