a little bit about me
Hi there! I’m a native-Arizonan born in Mesa, but living in the Silverlake area of LA, with my boyfriend Victor, his shih’tzu Pretty, and my two kitties, Zoe and Nova, and Victor's 14 year old daughter stays with us on the weekends and holidays. Life here is pretty hectic, but fun – tons of people and traffic (read: close relationship with your car), but close to places like Griffith Park, Glendale Galleria and the Americana, Hollywood, Universal Citywalk, the beach, and just about any kind of restaurant you can think of. Many of these places we can walk to, or hop on the Metro rail and be there in under a half hour - gotta love that!
This is my first effort at blogging, so please hold on to those tomatoes! I have always enjoyed writing, but don’t usually share any of it … it’s like letting people look into my soul, kinda scary! I think I have always been afraid to fail, of criticism … or is it fear of success? Hmm. Anyway, the plan is to have fun here, even if no one bothers to read any of this! Some of my other interests include reading (I LOVE books, so much so that I download ebooks for my phone), music (too many to list – my tastes range from Tchaikovsky to Linkin Park to Dido, my music collection is quite odd indeed), movies (especially sci-fi/fantasy, but I love a good romantic comedy too), puzzles of all kinds, travel (not that I do a lot of THAT), geography, geology (I wanted to be a planetary geologist, until I discovered exactly how much math was involved, ugh), MMOs (current LOTRO), technology (I built my pc – go me!), coffee (iced!), italian and latin food, the ocean (or any body of water, really), crafting, shopping, hiking, and watching basketball (go Lakers!) & soccer (Go Galaxy!).
I have a nail polish fetish, I have a difficult time passing that particular aisle, I just have this urge to get a new color every time! Hence, I have a big collection of polish. Other things I like to collect are books (obviously), dragons, angels and mosaics. I have lost some of these items, sadly, in the gazillions of times I have moved … ok, slight exaggeration there. I also have a collection of every card I have ever received, and I tend to keep ALL of my movie/concert/event/theme park/etc stubs. I’m a procrastinator at heart and these are all in boxes, I keep telling myself I’m going to organize them all in albums … some day (yeah right!). I can be stubborn (who me?), short-tempered (but I can never stay mad long), impatient, sensitive and argumentative, but on the other hand I’m really outgoing, forgiving and love to help people. I also have a very soft spot for animals and children, and I hate to see either suffering, it just breaks my heart. Some of my favorite animals are the big cats (especially snow leopards, ocelots, tigers, cheetahs), polar bears and the cute little primates, like the Golden Lion Tamarin that is on the road to extinction … this makes me really sad, by the way :(
Those that know me already know that I set out to just write a few lines, and then end up writing a book, so I really should wrap this up before you end up face-down on the keyboard with key impressions on your forehead … ok I hope I’m not THAT boring!
